Week 4

During this final week Greer and I were having trouble with our how might we statements and coming up with a finalised idea. We talked to Jason and got some feedback and were able to narrow down our how might we statement. This week also involved preparing our presentation and finalising our booklet.

Week 3

This week we narrowed in even further, however we struggled with keeping to one aspect of our idea and found ourselves wanting to expand and address every single problem we found, this mentality stopped us from digging deep enough to find the gold in one idea, we were stuck at a reasonably 'surface' level. We looked at the fundamental aspect of the concept of 'home' and found a few things that we all need to make a place feel like home.

Week 2

This week involved narrowing in on an specific area within military families, we decided to focus on the children and the struggles they face when moving locations. This was still pretty broad but we researched all ideas through that such as making new friends, leaving old friends behind, being able feel at home or even to be able to call a place home, education. Overall this week was research focused.

Week 1

During this week we were given 3 readings to chose from being stress in the city, stress of moving and stress of driving, after reading these I chose to focus on the moving one, I did some research on the effects of moving on kids, I was interested in finding out how it effects children’s education and found a stat for a principal stating that 50% of kids that started the year at school would have moved before the end of the year. We then got the opportunity to partner up with someone, I chose to go with Greer because she was also focused on the moving reading, however was researching the effect on military families which I found fascinating.
